Buxom by Bare Escentuals Waterproof Smoky Eye Stick

I must admit that I have never really worn anything from Bare Escentuals, but when I came across the Buxom brand I was intrigued. I was already a fan of MAC shadesticks, so the smoky eye sticks caught my attention. I was particularly struck by the matte grey color. I don't have any matte grey base colors so I wanted to give this one a try.

Here's a bit of information on the eye sticks from Sephora's site:
What it is:A versatile, waterproof eye stick that can be used three different ways. Perfect to shade, line, and get a glamorous smoky eye.
What it does:This versatile eye stick is your secret weapon for sexy, smoky eyes. Sultry and smoldering, it shadows, lines and smokes for easy killer eye looks. The waterproof, smudge proof formula stays put, so your eye look will stay fierce as long as you do.
What it is formulated WITHOUT:- Parabens- Sulfates- Synthetic Fragrances- Phthalates- GMOs- Triclosan
The Buxom Method: How to Use your Smoky Eye Stick 3-in-1 Shadow, Line & Smoke1. Gently brush the Smoky Eye Brush against the eye stick tip, then sweep color back and forth on the lid near the lash line and into crease.2. Line the lash line with the pointed tip (includes built-in sharpener).3. Soften the edges with brush to get down and smoky.

Buxom Waterproof Smoky Eye Stick~Ice Pick

I purchased the Buxom waterproof smoky eye stick in Ice Pick from Sephora and paid $18 plus tax for it. For $18 you get 1.0g/.03 oz of product. MAC's shadestick cost $16.50 for 1.5g/.05 oz of products. So you are getting a bit less product for more money(that's not to thrilling). It does come with a sharpener on the end if that's any consolation(maybe not so much).

The pencil is a beautiful matte smoky charcoal grey. I plan to use it for my smoky eye looks. I think it will work well with blues, greys, purples and blacks.

After rubbing vigorously

The color applies very creamy and easily. Once allowed to dry it is not easy to rub off. I would say the only reason this color rubbed off even a little was because I did not allow enough time for it to set. When I applied the other colors at Sephora and let them set for a minute or two I had to literally scrub with soap and water to remove them from my hand. I don't have really oily eyelids and I always apply a paint to my lid, so wear time is really not an issue for me. I usually buy these types of bases more for color than to help with the longevity of my eyeshadow.

I plan to purchase the matte chocolate brown they have as well called Two By Four. This color will make a great base for smoky chocolate looks!

Have you all tried these sticks? If so, what do you think of them?

  1. it is the first time I hear about Buxom. Usually, I'm not a a gray girl - i think the colour doesn't suit me - but I must admit I loved the way this gray looks, really pretty :-) **

  2. It is a really nice grey. It has a bit of a blue tone. I really like the fact that it is matte, because most products like this have shimmer.
