Crease/Blending Brushes Part 3 & 4

Finally onto the conclusion of my crease and blending brushes. These brushes are my multi-use brushes. Sometimes we can get stuck on the description of a brush and use it for only that purpose. I have found that some of my brushes are created for one use, but work best as something completely different. You definitely need to experiment, because you never know what may work best. Please check out my first post to read more information on brush hairs, uses, etc. here.

Mac Electric Cool Eye Shadows

It's been a while since I've bought products from Mac, but these eye shadows really intrigued me! I love the sponge-like texture and the color pay-off is phenomenal! I plan to use them as a base. Some of them I would wear alone, but I'm sure I would definitely need a base to prevent them from creasing. The site describes them as:
A soft, lightweight, springy formula delivers hue-rich colour in a modern mode.

Crease/Blending Brushes Part 2

So continuing on with my comparisons. Today I will be discussing what I like to use as detail brushes for my crease because they are so small. I use them when I want to carve out my crease and create a really defined shape. Please refer to this post for more detail on crease brushes and brush hairs.

Crease/Blending Brush Comparisons Part 1

I decided that with the one million and one brushes that I have I needed to do a comparison post. Since I love a great blended eye I will start with blending and crease brushes. Blending/crease brushes are an essential part of an eye look.

Unless you are intentionally creating a harsh or carved crease then you absolutely need blending/crease brushes to diffuse and blend colors smoothly and evenly from one to the next. I typically blend the colors where they meet. These brushes are also excellent when you have heavily pigmented colors that you want to have lightly applied to the brow, crease, or mobile lid. They are also great for a light wash of color over the eye.

Inglot Rainbow Eye Shadows

When Inglot released their rainbow eye shadows I knew I had to have them. If they were anything like their other pressed shadows they were going to be excellent. This past Christmas I open up a gift from my sister who had just returned from Las Vegas a month or two prior and I see ALL of the rainbow shadows!!! I was so excited I could not believe it. It was the one thing she knew I had not purchased yet. I can be an impulse buyer, and when I want something, especially makeup I don't wait!

When I brought my colors home I carefully arranged them on the bed in the order I wanted to place them in the palette(that's my ocd kicking in). I always label my palette before placing colors inside of it so that I don't have to try and remove the colors and risk breaking them. Well for some reason I thought that I had mislabeled my colors and had to remove them anyway and that's when tragedy struck! Several of my eye shadows chipped, cracked, and broke! :(

I learned later from the fabulous Enkoremakeup that a heavy duty magnet will resolve the issues of removing the Inglot shadows from the palette. I promptly drove over to Home Depot and purchased one and now my removal woes are solved...hallelujah! The first picture will be one that I took when only a couple of shadows had been chipped. The next picture is when I tried to remove the shadows and several of them chipped and cracked. Oh well, they still work the same. :-/

All of the colors are matte. They are $8.00/eye shadow and are 2.5g/.09 oz. You can purchase the rainbow eye shadows here.

Inglot Body Pigments Pearl

If you love shimmer, sheen, and multi-dimensional glitter then these pigments will be right up your alley! The Inglot body pigments pearl are chocked full of metallic shine! These pigments are absolutely divine and a little bit goes a long way, so you don't need much. I always wear my colors with a base for intensity and when you add a base to these colors that's exactly what you get! You can also mix the pigments together for your own custom color. The pigments are extremely finely milled and feel like silk. Each pigment is 1g/.04 oz and they cost $14. You can purchase the pearl body pigments here.

Inglot Body Pigments Matte

Here are some of the pigments I bought from Inglot at the Makeup Show. Inglot released 40 new body pigments, 20 shimmer and 20 matte. I bought all 40 and these are matte pigments from the collection. The intensity of these pigments is insane! The colors are absolutely gorgeous! If anyone knows me they know that I love matte eyeshadows, and these are no exception! Inglot hit the ball out of the park with these pigments! I swatched these colors on bare skin with no base. I have worn a few of these colors on my eye and did have a reaction to one of the colors(124). My eyes were sore and had a lot of mucus, so be warned! I can't be mad, because they do say "body pigments" and I tried them on the eye anyway. I haven't had a chance to try any others yet..lol! If you do try them on the eye, proceed with caution and know that you may have an allergic reaction. You can purchase the matte body pigments for $14 here.

OCC The Garden S/S 2012 Lip Tars

Continuing on with my haul I decided to swatch the lip tars I bought from OCC. These are from the new spring collection. Please excuse my dry lips! Also my natural lip color is a little more red because I took the picture after swatching(yeah I know...lol!). I think most of you know how pigmented lip tars are. A very little goes a loooong way! I absolutely love lip tars because how versatile they are. I can mix them or use them alone. If you haven't already tried them you should definitely buy a couple. You can purchase the new collection or some of the oldie but goodies for $14 here.

Magnolia Makeup Big Easy Collection

No surprise in the name of the collection since Magnolia Makeup is based out of New Orleans. This is another purchase from The Makeup Show. I'm also missing one color(tchoupitoulas-matte deep teal) from this collection that was sold out. Every time I look at the colors from Magnolia I get so excited! I'm telling you that pictures do no justice to the dimension and intensity of these colors. Let's get to the swatches!

Magnolia Makeup Indian Summer Collection

I'm on a roll this week. So why not keep the party going with more of my makeup show haul. I absolutely love Magnolia Makeup! Their pigments are so unique and the color payoff is out of this world! Niala and Tia are an awesome duo and their products speak for themselves. This collection was an early release for The Makeup Show. It will be released online and available for sale on June 21 at Magnolia Makeup. I am missing one color(big chief-a beautiful royal blue with light blue shimmer) from this collection because it was sold out. :( I will definitely be purchasing this color when the collection is released online. :)

More Hakuhodo Brushes

I posted my collective Makeup Show haul and wanted to start posting the items I purchased. If any you have been reading this blog you know that I looooove Hakuhodo! I didn't have a lot of time to shop there my first day because I was taking classes all day. I had about an hour after my class to stop by the booth and do some damage, and damage I did! I was making so many purchases that my bank froze my card right as the show was closing up for the day...ugh! I was able to call and let them know that I was making the charges and they freed up my card so that I could take my precious Hakuhodo brushes home with me...yay!! Here the brushes I purchased from the show:

Update: Hakuhodo will be selling the J series brushes online. They are slated to release somewhere between 80-90 brushes! They should be available for sale by the end of July or the beginning of August. To prepare yourself pre-release, check out more of the J series brushes here. I know I'm getting my list ready...lol!

Makeup Show NYC 2012 haul

Hey everyone!! I know, I know! It's been ages since I posted! I'm back with my NYC Makeup Show haul. I know it's a day late and a dollar short, but better late than never right?! As usual I went with my girls. We have been going to this show since 2008. I have watched this show get bigger and bigger each year. This year was no exception. I did take two classes as well. I took a contouring and highlighting class with Danessa Myricks, and a hair class with Johnny Lavoy. There were so many brands and products that I didn't know where to look first. I did some serious damage and enjoyed every minute of it! There is nothing like makeup therapy!!! I will slowly but surely be posting swatches of these products. So without further ado here is my haul:

Nars Eyeshadow Duos

Here are swatches of the only Nars eyeshadow duos I have. I love the duos and plan to purchase more, but find that they don't get as much use as colors in my palettes. I think I tend to favor eyeshadows in palettes a little more than individual eyeshadows.

Hakuhodo Haul

Hello and Happy New Year friends! I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas as well! My Christmas was fantastic!!! My honey treated me quite well this year! :) One of my gifts was cash for Hakuhodo brushes.

Here is what I hauled from Hakuhodo before the price increase. A lot of the brushes I purchased did not increase and few had quite a large increase. The G520 foundation brush had the largest increase of the brushes I purchased, increasing from $60 to $94! I wished I would have known which other brushes were having a large increase that were on my list so that I could have purchased them first. At least I don't have many brushes left on my list with a large increase. I just received these brushes yesterday so I haven't had a chance to use them yet. This post will just be pictures and descriptions.
